Learner Requirements

Open to all, attendees should have a good working knowledge and understanding of Social Media platforms, and who are familiar with its safe use for communications and engagement.

Ideally, attendees will have previously attended the Social Media Foundation Course.

Aims & Objectives

Open to all and aimed at individuals with minimal Social Media experience and who want to quickly gain a good understanding of Social Media and how to use it for effective engagement and communications.

Course Description

This course is available as a closed or public course and is available in two core variants; one for Defence and related personnel only, and the other for a civilian/mixed audience.  The course structure is common for both variants, however for Defence only audiences, the content, guidance and policies are specifically tailored to the Defence community.

From a minimal initial understanding, attendees can expect to increase their confidence, competence and effectiveness in using Social Media to deliver communications and engagement; both stand alone and as part of wider campaigns.

This combined course covers basic setup, configuration and safe use of major Social Media Platforms, as well as introducing the skills and techniques to enable you to build your understanding, confidence and competence across a range of Social Media platforms.

  • Creating your ‘Bio’
  • Selection and use of Avatars
  • Using Social Media safely and securely
  • Social Media etiquette and how to handle ‘trolls’
